Who We Are

Art Primer was founded in Melbourne to bring the world of contemporary art closer to everyone. Our story began with a shared realization: too many people feel art is simply “not for them”—intimidating, overly academic, or out of reach. We decided to change that narrative. Through workshops, tours, and accessible online learning, Art Primer empowers people to confidently understand and enjoy modern painting and artistic expression.

Our mission: To foster genuine curiosity, build creative literacy, and nurture an open, supportive art community where every voice is welcomed—no prior knowledge required!

Our Philosophy

  • Accessibility: Art is for everyone, regardless of background or experience.
  • Clarity: We prioritize clear, jargon-free explanations and highly interactive activities.
  • Inspiration: Every participant should leave with new ideas and confidence.
  • Community Engagement: Learning together builds deeper appreciation.
  • Integrity: Our team stays current, honest, and strives for excellence in education.
